Documentary at heart,
refined with an editorial eye

Most couples tell me they feel awkward in front of the camera. That’s completely normal.
I’ll guide you like a director — giving you movement and interaction so you’re not standing there wondering what to do. When you need structure, I’ll pose you. When you don’t, I step back and let real moments unfold.
Some of the strongest images happen when you don’t even realize I’m shooting.
You don’t have to force anything. We build the confidence as we go.
This approach is especially important at the Santa Barbara courthouse, where ceremony windows are short and the light moves quickly — having a photographer who directs with intention makes all the difference.

MY APPROACH
Planning a Santa Barbara Courthouse Wedding?
The Santa Barbara courthouse is one of the most photogenic places to elope in California — Spanish-Colonial architecture, the rotunda staircase, the Mural Room ceilings, the Sunken Gardens. Ceremony windows are short and the property is busy, so working with a photographer who knows the building changes how the day flows.
I've photographed elopements at the Mural Room, the Sunken Gardens, and the outdoor lawns. Each space has its own light, its own pace, and its own best portrait spots — and knowing them in advance is what lets you actually be present during your ceremony instead of worrying about logistics.

HI, I'M RENÉ.
I’ve always been drawn to how people interact when they feel comfortable — the quiet glances, the subtle energy in a room, and the moments that can’t be staged.
Before photography, I spent years working in the service industry. It taught me how to read a room quickly, work with different personalities, and solve problems calmly under pressure — skills that make a real difference on a wedding day.
Today I work as a Santa Barbara wedding photographer, documenting celebrations along the California coast with a style rooted in documentary storytelling and refined with an editorial eye. Whether it’s a courthouse ceremony, a vineyard wedding, or an intimate coastal celebration, my focus is always the same: creating photographs that feel natural, artful, and deeply connected to the moment.
Los Angeles is home, but Santa Barbara continues to be one of the places I’m most inspired to photograph.
From a Santa Barbara courthouse elopement to the vineyards of the Santa Ynez Valley, every location along this coast tells a different story.
